ESDN Conference 2020
ESDN Conference 2020
The European Green Deal: Our pact for the Future
12.10. - 13.10.2020
As part of Germany's EU Council Presidency, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety is hosting the annual conference of the European Sustainable Development Network (ESDN) 2020. The conference, taking place virtually on October 12th and 13th 2020, will focus on the European Green Deal in the perspective of the needs for a sustainable transformation of Europe and especially of the expectations of the next generation as advocates of change - and future. Before starting the experts conference we therefore organize a European Youth Camp back to back with the conference to make sure that young people, too, can discuss the challenges ahead and give their opinion on the way to pursue. The results of the Youth Camp "Green Young Deal" will be presented during the conference. Furthermore, in line with ESDN’s broad membership base, we are striving towards including as many European voices as possible. On the second day of the conference, 13th of October, starting at 11 a.m., several breakout groups dealing with key topics of the Commission Work Programme and the European Green Deal will offer a possibility to discuss some key points in more detail.
The Conference language is English. We will have German/English interpretation for all plenary sessions.
We have hoped to be able to welcome all of you here in Berlin, however, with the COVID-19 pandemic still being active all over Europe and globally, and with several countries declared a risk zone and ensuing travel restrictions, we have chosen to organise the ESDN conference 2020 as online conference.
This means that we will offer an online event platform and complement this with webstreaming as well as videoconferencing. The event page allows participants easy access to all information – the agenda, speaker backgrounds, a digital pinboard and links to the plenary webstream and breakout sessions (due to technical reasons the access to the latter ones will have to be limited). There will be an interactive tool and "virtual coffee breaks" to loosen up and at least try to make up for the loss of „little encounters in the corridors“.
Please note that, the program is subject to change. We hope that despite the distance between us, we will have a good conference.
